Driving
Skills For Life - Tuition System
Learning
with Tim Sheeran Learner Driving Tuition
follows a system where each lesson
is planned with clearly defined aims
and objectives. Driving for the first
time might seem quite daunting, but
don't worry, no-one's expecting you
to drive off onto a busy road on your
first lesson.
Because my driving lessons follow a Learner
Driving Tuition System, this allows pupils
to progress at a rate comfortable to them, only moving
on to the next phase of tuition as their ability and
skill levels develop, this in effect increases the confidence
of the pupil leading to the increased ability to learn
more effectively, thus speeding up the learning process.

Driving
Skills For Life
Many driving schools structure their lessons
around the basic principles of the driving test.
My teaching techniques aim to develop the skills necessary
to drive safely for life. You will be coached to develop
an understanding of how we need to look, think and plan
to reduce risks whilst driving.
The average driver will
only use around 20% concentration whilst driving.
Confidence in your driving
will grow as your ability
to plan and reduce risks whilst driving
improves, the more confident we are,
the less stressed and nervous we become,
nerves are born from fear.
With the skills and knowledge necessary to drive confidently
and independently of your instructor, passing the driving
test becomes much easier and less stressful.
The tuition system is split into two phases:
Phase 1
deals with controls, learning road procedures, knowledge
of the law, highway code rules and regulations and starting
to gain some driving experience.
Phase
2
importantly,
aims to develop the skills needed to become an expert
driver, we can only start to develop these skills when
we have a good understanding of car control, road procedures,
regulations etc.
There is no reason why you can not begin to learn these
techniques before taking your driving test, practicing
these techniques can only improve your driving and increase
your chances of passing your driving test.
You will learn how to:
- scan effectively to identify and anticipate hazards
in the near, middle and far distance
- prioritise and plan both the approach and exit to
any hazards
- constantly assess & plan your drive to reduce
risks to yourself and others

As each subject is completed the pupils knowledge and
understanding of the subject will be tested with a series
of questions, and their ability to demonstrate a competent
drive assessed on the given subject.
A record of your progress will be made at the end of
each lesson.
The course of lessons will also include basic car maintenance
including how to fill up the car with petrol, check
oil, coolant, washer and brake fluid levels.
You will also undergo mock driving tests at certain
stages of your training.
Using modern
psychology to reduce anxiety.
For the more nervous learner drivers and to help
reduce the stress involved when taking the driving test,
the use of NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming)
and TFT (Thought Field Therapy) can be used
to great effect.
